Welcome to my Teacher Website
Welcome! If you are viewing this site you may be a previous student, loving family/friend, or a school district. This site is where I used to house pdf copies of worksheets and notes completed in class, along with hyper links to resources students would use in and out of class. Distance Learning last spring redetermined how I used my website. I have condensed it down to the outside academic learning links to help students find and follow their passions, A small section of assignments and notes from the beginning of the year to give you a glimpse of what kinds of work we were doing in the classroom last year, and this condensed homepage to give us a starting space. As the school year begins and new platforms are being used, this site may or may not be active for the school year. I will not delete it so that the outside of academics links will remain for those who would like to use them.
Welcome to an exciting year in 8th grade Mathematics! I am Ms. Bietschek. This year we will be covering Linear Equations, Inverse Variation, Pythagorean Theorem, Exponents, Transformations, and so much more.
Mathematics is a little different now a days. We try to focus on student process. Math is not just about getting the right answer, it's about shaping the way we think about the problem. Students will often be asked to explain their thinking or describe how they solved a problem. While I appreciate the shaping of how the brain thinks, I also like to encourage practice. Practice makes Precise. Students will be given daily work in class to expand how they view a problem, and to practice the skills they are learning. If the work is not completed during the class time then it will become homework. All class work is created so that students will have enough time to complete it in class if they stay focused. I will also have extra practice available to students throughout the year.
If there is ever any questions or concerns that I can clarify with the work we are doing please let me know and I will do my best to help.
